How to make Radeon HD4850 get cold (more cool) with easy and free solution

As long as we know, the new generation VGA ATI Radeon HD4850 have high temperature, can make your water boiled.

Some people who own that VGA, must be buy another cooler VGA to replace the standard one with close eye, because that cooler is not cheap. Some people almost give up just wait utility software like RivaTuner which can control spin of fan.

However, all situation now has gone with the wind, because a solution have been found to take overheat problem with simple, smart and free.

The solusition is just change our profile file of Calatlys ATI control.

Here this the step :

1. Open Catalyst Center and activated ATI Overdrive, make sure clock GPU and memory setting in right place.

2. Make new Catalyst profile, example with name WideArticle, then automaticaly Catalyst create a file of WideArticle.xml in directory :

on Windows Vista :

C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\WideArticle.XML

on Windows XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Local Settings\Application Data\ATI\ACE\WideArticle.XML

3. Open the new file of WideArticle.XML which created by Catalyst with WordPad.

Cange FanSpeedAlgorithm = Manual and Want = 65,

that file now should be contain like below:

<Feature name="FanSpeedRPMTarget_0">
<Property name="Want" value="0" />
</Feature>

4. Save and exit from WordPad, now go to Catalyst Control Center and reload again our profile.

You will see, now spin of fan increse it speed to 65% (almost 5000RPM), now idle temperature just before 75 °C become 45 °C in full load, before edit can reach 85C and just touch 65 °C.

If you set fan speed to 100%, your fan will be make noise and fan may sooner to be broke.

So maximum i thought would be accept was 70%, now high over that.

Remember to load your profile, when you restart you windows.

I hope is smart solution just before waiting official solution from ATI.
